"The Journey to Emotional Self-Reliance is a stunning book, filled with love and goodness. I highly recommend this book! It is truly 'a guide to finding your own way.' It is also a work of art - with beautiful images that accompany each chapter. Both versions (black & white and full color) are gorgeous! The color version is, in my opinion, definitely worth the extra cost. It even qualifies as a "coffee table book."

From the moment I started reading this book, I knew that it would soon become an old and trusted friend. Among many other things, this book gracefully illustrates how quickly our mind and body react and respond to situations from moment to moment and offers suggestions of how best to manage these thoughts and feelings with the intention of creating inner peace, balance, strength, confidence, and of course, emotional self-reliance. I couldn't help but think of The Celestine Prophecy, Way of the Peaceful Warrior, and Practicing the Power of Now, as I read this book. The flow of the writing is rhythmic, whimsical, and peaceful; while the content itself is non-threatening, easily accessible, simple and yet incredibly insightful and deep in practice."

"This book can help you bring meaningful change to your life. Rather than give you solutions, this book is special because it helps you develop tools you can carry with you into any of life’s challenging moments; it helps you help yourself in an enduring way.

I personally found this book helpful because it reminded me of an important relationship that at times I overlook and sometimes even neglect to foster - the relationship with my self. Our self is not just our mind, it also includes our body. And the technique this book provides does not neglect the body; it embraces it. The book helped me learn how to listen to both my mind and my body and in turn to constantly develop a more loving relationship with my self.

By doing the self work outlined in the book I helped myself develop an approach to making decisions from a heartfelt place - a place that serves me in the best possible way. I also helped myself recognize patterns, behaviors and choices that did not serve me well, allowing me to take them off and leave them behind like an old coat that didn’t fit well anymore.

Learning to truly love myself and make decisions from a heartfelt place - as the book guides one to do - had a ripple effect: the health of other relationships in my life improved and others close to me were inspired to improve. I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to take action to improve how they relate to themselves and in turn to those around them, enriching their life and their community along the way."

The structure of the book really works for me - it is arranged in short sections which I can read (or re-read) even if I only have a few minutes. Each short chapter narrates a step in an allegorical journey to emotional self-reliance, with a clear description of how to notice and take control of the physical manifestations of anxiety or discomfort. At the end of each chapter, a commentary provides a more traditional, straight-forward explanation of the chapter with tips on how to apply the concepts to one's own life. The two elements of narration and commentary work beautifully together, and result in a book that will resonate with a wide audience - both those who learn better through stories, and also those who appreciate an explicitly instructional approach. And excellent resource, regardless of where you are on your own personal journey."
